OLDER PEOPLE ARE RETIRED WORKERS NOT RETIRED VOTERS

We can use our voices to remind politicians of that fact.

The RTÉ Retired Staff Association is affiliated to the Irish Senior Citizens Parliament.(ISCP) The ISCP has been working consistently on the issue of income security through both the State Pension and Occupational Pensions. It has supported a Bill that is progressing through the DÁIL to ensure retired workers have a voice when it comes to any cuts to the work pension.

Currently, the Bill is stalled as we wait for the Government to give a response to a request for a Money Message. Simply, it means that the Government say Yes, we can financially support this Bill or No we won’t.
All too often, the Money message is refused when the Government don’t want or agree with a Bill.

The ISCP is asking people to contact their public representatives to encourage them to support the bill which many of you will have heard us refer to as ‘The Brid Smith Bill’. We have been given draft letters (below) that people can use as a guide to write their own letters or emails.

More immediately people can attend the ISCP Press Conference this THURSDAY 30th April to give one last push to the Government to allow the Bill move to the final stage and not block it.

We need people to attend and let the government know
